In Grace Kids our heart is to help children see Jesus for who He is, see themselves the way God sees them and learn to love others the way God loves. We want each child to feel they are connected and significant in the church community. Our desire is for the children to grow up to be and to be surrounded by authentic Jesus followers, connecting the Bible to their everyday lives, joyfully growing in their understanding and playing their part in the life of the church.
There is a registration table at the entrance to the main service where you can meet a member of the team and register your child. You’ll be asked for contact details and whether there are any allergies or conditions we should be aware of. We have groups for Key Stage One (4-7s) and Key Stage 2 (7-11s). We also have youth groups for Key Stage 3 (11-14s) and Key Stage 4 (15-18s). We are flexible on age ranges if siblings would like to stay together.
All of our children’s workers go through a reference and DBS check in order to work with the children. We undergo regular safeguarding training to ensure that your child is safe in our care. We work in teams so there will always be at least 2 adults in the room with the children.
We use a ‘Bible based play’ approach in our sessions. We share a story from the Bible together using objects and colour, and then we use ‘wonder’ questions to think more deeply about it. After that we encourage the children to respond to the story in their own way through a range of craft materials, playing through the stories or working on a project together. Your child will encounter the Bible in a visual, tactile, sensory way in our sessions and through that we aim to help them explore and understand more about God.
Creche Babies - Pre SchoolA safe place to explore and have funWe have a self service creche space for parents and little ones to play and connect together during our Sunday services. There are toys and changing mats available for you to use.
Key Stage One (ages 4-7s) Getting excited about God and sharing the BibleWe welcome children to our Grace Kids Key Stage One group when they start school (Reception, Year 1 and 2). We share Bible stories together in a sensory way using small wooden figures, objects and sometimes the sand to represent the desert! We wonder about where we find ourselves in the stories and what God might be saying. As a response to God we build, create, make and collaborate!
We have sensory spaces and work to adapt our resources for children who have additional needs.
Key Stage Two (ages 7-11)Making connections about God, the Bible, Church and ourselvesIn Key Stage Two (School years 3,4,5 & 6) we are helping older children to really begin to explore what the Bible stories mean for their everyday lives. We share stories across the whole Bible, encouraging children to ask the question, "are there any other stories that help us tell this one?" We spend time wondering, praying, enjoying the Bible and spending time with each other. We want children to respond to God for themselves and have a variety of ways that we use to connect to God through play, craft, drawing, animation, experiments, prayer, and fun. We love to take our sessions outside when the weather is good!We are really happy for you to come with your children the first week so you can get an idea of what goes on in Grace Kids. We’d love to connect with you if you have any questions about children at Grace Church, get in touch!
